SunHopes is an innovative concept for harvesting solar energy in a cost-efficient, environmentally friendly way using helium balloons. GEOTECTURA, an architectural studio founded by architect Dr. Joseph (Yossi) Cory, and Dr. Pini Gurfil of the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, collaborated on the development of the technique. SunHopes, which was runner-up in the RE:Vision Design Competition, 2007, explores original use of photovoltaic technologies that in the future, may provide portable and infrastructure-free access to electric power...

Jonas Samson, an innovative interior designer from the Netherlands, has created a new kind of wallpaper that also serves as a light source. Samson's wallpaper will enable us to use two-dimensional light sources instead of the 3D lighting fixtures currently in use around the world. The light emitting wallpaper can be turned on and off and is made of light emitting diodes (LEDs), which consume very little power and are relatively cheap....

The project challenges 20 acclaimed architects to design 20 villas along the north-east coast of Taiwan. The selected architects include big international names such as MVRDV, Graft, Kengo Kuma, and Julien De Smedt as well as 10 up and coming Taiwanese architects. The designs showcase an impressive array of styles ranging from minimalist modules to elaborate biomorphisms, yet they are all united around the common goal of integrating seamlessly with their environment. These results are the fruit of an exciting cultural exchange, and they provide some cutting edge concepts for the future of architecture.

"Green gadget culture" is something for us to really get charged up about! This white (hot) tiled frock (think Paco Rabanne circa mid-1960’s) is the quintessential Day-For-Night eco-fashion number, as it passively soaks up the sun’s rays during the daytime so that you can be a flashy fashion power pack at night. Showcased at Siggraph some time ago, we thought that we would resuscitate this eco-chic modular dress for another groovy go around on the sustainable style circuit.

We were floored when we caught our first glimps of this ultra-sleek sports car, and beside ourselves when this amazing electric vehicle started into production.
